Lecture Content: The lecture will mainly discuss the market conditions of U.S. stock index futures, interest rate futures, and foreign exchange futures, as well as their impact on other countries' financial markets. It will also cover the issuance and role of specialized futures such as weather futures, their impact on the spot market, and future prospects.
Guest Bio: Bob Webb is the Paul Tudor Jones II Distinguished Research Professor and Martin J. Patsel, Jr., Eminent Research Professor at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. He has served in business, government, and academia, including: the World Bank Investment Department (Consultant); the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (Senior Financial Economist); the Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget (Senior Financial Economist); the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Senior Financial Economist); and the University of Southern California. He holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Chicago. He served for three years as a joint faculty member at the KAIST Business School in South Korea. He has written commentaries for publications such as The Wall Street Journal and The Nikkei. His research has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Econometrics and the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and he is the author or co-author of several books including "Trading Catalysts" and "Impact Markets." He served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Futures Markets for 24 years. Bob received a Fulbright Research Scholarship in 2024 to conduct research on housing affordability at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
