The School of Business Alumni Homecoming Assembly 2022 was Held Successfully

On December 3, the ECUST School of Business Alumni Homecoming Assembly 2022 was held through "online + offline" mode and students located across the globe graduating from the ECUST School of Business attended the assembly. With the stabilization of the epidemic, some alumni were invited to attend the assembly in person. The faculty, students, alumni and people from all walks of life watched the assembly simultaneously through the network platform, with a total of 16,100 viewers. The assembly was hosted by Lou Gaoxiang, Vice Dean of the School of Business.

At the beginning of the assembly, the warm-up video 70th Anniversary of the Founding of ECUST, To a Better Future not only showed the nearly 40 years of development history of the School, but also showed the dribs and drabs of the alumni's full support for the construction of the alma mater. The familiar teaching building, schoolmates with young faces in those years, and continuous friendship were conveyed to the heart of every person from the School of Business.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of East China University of Science and Technology. Hou Limin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Business, thanked the alumni for their continued support on behalf of the School. Then, Hou Limin introduced the development of the School to the alumni in terms of six aspects including discipline construction, teaching staff, talent training, scientific research, international exchange and certification, and fulfilling the mission. Finally, she stressed that the School of Business would continue to build a better communication platform for alumni and expect more alumni to involve in the development of the School of Business.

The members of the New Alumni Council were elected at the general election meeting of the Fourth Alumni Council of the ECUST School of Business held that morning. Hou Limin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Business, Jiang Zhiqiang, Deputy Secretary, and Song Yuanyang, Deputy Dean, issued the appointment certificate to the directors present in the Homecoming Assembly.

Li Zhaoying made a speech as the new chairman of the Fourth Alumni Council of the School of Business, pointing out that as the new chairman, he would earnestly fulfill the responsibilities of the Alumni Council of the School of Business, gather more social resources to support the development of the School, and try his best to promote the exchange and cooperation between the School and alumni with all the members of the new council.

The ECUST School of Business Real Estate Club (Huajuhui) and ECUST Wuxi Alumni Association MBA Club won the "Outstanding Alumni Organization Award" of the Year. Alumni Sun Lixin, Secretary-general of Huajuhui, and Zhu Changyi, representative of ECUST Wuxi Alumni Association MBA Club, came up to the stage to accept the award. Introduction videos of two award-winning alumni organizations were played on the spot.

The "Speeches of the Faculty from the Alma Mater" of the annual Homecoming Assembly is one of the most anticipated parts of the alumni and being able to attend the lectures delivered by the faculty again is the wish of many alumni. Wu Baijun, President of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences at East China University of Science and Technology, Director of Shanghai Research Center for Public Economy and Social Governance and Professor of the School of Business, delivered a speech titled "Common Prosperity Goal and Social Incentive Mechanism". Professor Wu Baijun explained the historical process of welfare society, the relationship between fairness and efficiency, common prosperity and regional economic development, etc. in simple terms.

The assembly involved four rounds of online interactions, and 35 alumni received alma mater cultural and creative souvenirs full of commemorative significance. Finally, Lou Gaoxiang thanked all the alumni for their strong support to the development of alma mater education cause. In addition, he warmly invited all alumni to often come back to visit their alma mater and looked forward to meeting alumni at ECUST campus at the 40th anniversary of the founding of the School of Business next year.
