ECUST School of Business was Jointly Accredited by AMBA & BGA (Gold)

On March 24th, the School of Business officially received the congratulatory letter from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA) that the School has passed the joint accreditation of the AMBA and the BGA (Gold), both with a maximum five-year validity period.



The AMBA and BGA International Accreditation Peer Review Team is comprised of Prof. Steefvan de Velde (Chairman of AMBA and BGA International Accreditation Advisory Board), Prof. Edward Snape (Dean of the School of Business, Hong Kong Baptist University), Prof. WANG Chongming (Director of Global Entrepreneurship Research Center, Zhejiang University), and Mr. George Iliev (Director of AMBA and BGA International Accreditation). From January 9th to 11th, 2023, the AMBA and BGA International Accreditation Peer Review Team conducted a three-day online accreditation assessment of the ECUST Business School. Prof. DU Huifang (Chair of University Council), Prof. LI Jian (Vice President), Prof. HOU Yu (Director of Council Office), Prof. DU Wenli (Dean of Graduate School), Prof. HUANG Jie (Director of School Administration Office), Prof. LI Xiaopeng (Dean of College of International Education), Prof. HOU Limin (Chair of School of Business Council), Prof. MA Tieju (Dean of the School of Business), as well as members of the School Council and heads of relevant departments were present at the accreditation meeting.


Prof. DU Huifang first extended a warm welcome to the accreditation experts and introduced the history of the University, its characteristics and the achievements made in recent years, especially the great development of the School of Business. Prof. DU Huifang stated that AMBA and BGA joint accreditation is one of the most authoritative management education accreditation systems in the world, which promotes the development of global business education, and plays a significant role in promoting innovation of business talent cultivation mode of ECUST. It helps the School to continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation, and to become a leading business school with distinctive features. The University will adopt the insightful suggestions of the accreditation experts to benchmark with international standards and make continuous improvement, endeavouring to cultivate more high-level business managerial talents. Prof. Du Huifang also claimed that The University will continue to support the development of the School of Business.



Prof. LI Jian introduced the University's support for the graduate work of the School in terms of talent cultivation, system construction and teaching facilities. He pointed out that in the past five years, ECUST MBA and EMBA programs have made great progress with the support of AMBA accreditation. It is believed that this joint accreditation of AMBA and BGA will further facilitate the school to improve the quality of graduate cultivation from all aspects.



Afterwards, Prof. MA Tieju reported on the developmental achievements made by the School in the past five years and introduced its future sustainable development strategy. The accreditation panel also discussed in depth with the governing body of the University and the School as well as the persons in charge of each program on specific issues including strategy, faculty, research, program management, curriculum, delivery mode, student work and future sustainable development mode. After a detailed inspection and evaluation, the expert panel highly acknowledged the achievements of the School in terms of management mechanism, research, action learning, student services and other aspects, and also put forward constructive opinions on the future development of the School.



The School was accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) in 2012 and 2017, both with a five-year validity period, and was jointly accredited by AMBA & BGA in 2023. International accreditation is an essential part of the School's internationalization strategy. Maintaining the accreditation qualification and continuous international benchmarking will help the School to continuously improve its own management level, promote a comprehensive, balanced and rapid development, as well as achieve its ultimate goal of being one of the world's top business schools.
