On 2nd December, 2023, the 40th Anniversary celebration ceremony of ECUST School of Business was held on Xuhui Campus. Prof. DU Huifang, chair of the University Council, Prof. XUAN Fuzhen, President of ECUST, Prof. YAN Haifeng, Vice President of ECUST, Prof. TIAN He, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Director of Academic Committee of ECUST, as well as faculty and staff, alumni, and student representatives of the School and external 

guests from various enterprises or institutions attended the ceremony. The ceremony also set up several sub-venues and shared the scenes online simultaneously. More than 500,000 people participated in the ceremony by online or offline access. Prof. HOU Limin, chair of the School Council, and Prof. MA Tieju, Dean of ECUST School of Business, presided over the ceremony.

On behalf of the University, President XUAN Fuzhen expressed warm congratulations on the 40th anniversary of the ECUST School of Business and expressed his sincere gratitude to the people from all walks of life who have supported the development of ECUST and the School of Business. He said that in the 1980s, the School of Business came into being at the key point of the expansion of the University from uni-specialty to multi-specialty, from science and technology to humanities. Over the past 40 years, the School of Business has always adhered to the original mission of educating students based on the principle of openness and tolerance to integrate different ideas from China and other countries. Besides, it has cultivated a large number of excellent talents in the fields of economy, industries, and management. Moreover, it has made significant contributions to the economic and social development in the areas including carbon neutrality and sustainable development, supply chain security, and rural revitalization, and embarked on a road of business education with ECUST characteristics, which has gained increasing popularity and influence. Generations of students who graduated from the business school have achieved brilliant achievements and won high social reputations through perseverance and hard work.

Prof. DU Huifang, chair of the University Council, presented awards to Dr. FENG Jingbing, winner of the ECUST Business School first session of "Best Teaching Award", Prof. LI Tian, winner of the "Best Research Award", and Ms. LI Yunfang, winner of the "Best Service Award".

Prof. TIAN He and Mr. LI Chun, the Vice President of Fengjing Building Materials Co., LTD, presented awards to Prof. CHE Yi and Dr. WU Yifan who were selected for the "Fengjing Scholars" Young Talent Programme. Prof. WU Baijun, former Vice President of ECUST, and Mr. WANG Xiongying, the General Manager of Guangdong Haolu Construction Co., LTD, presented awards to Prof. YAN Hongbin who was selected for the "Xiongying (means “tercel” in English) Scholars" Young Talent Programme. Prof. QIAN Shichao, former Executive Vice Dean of ECUST School of Business and Economics, Prof. SHEN Tiequn, former Vice Chair of the School Council and Mr. WU Xinzi, the General Manager of Wuxi Fanying Police Equipment Co., LTD, presented awards to 14 teachers who received the "Fanying Outstanding Teacher Award".

Prof. HUANG Lujin, the former Vice Dean of ECUST School of Business, presented “excellent alumni organization awards” to the Wuxi Alumni Association MBA Club, Business School Property Club (Huaju Club) and Business School Alumni Reading Club.

Prof. YAN Haifeng presented the appointment certificates to six guests, including Ms.HAO Jinyu, President of SGS, Mr. JIA Jianxu, Director and the General Manager of SAIC Volkswagen, Dr. Anuruddha Rathninde, Asia-Pacific President of Johnson Controls, Mr. SUN Jianping, Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Association, Mr. YU Feng, Chairman of Honeywell China Investment Co., LTD and the President of Honeywell China, and Mr. YU Rong, Chairman of Meinian Health Industry Group. The six guests of honor were awarded the appointment certificates of visiting professors.

Prof. MA Tieju made a report on the Business School, reviewing the fruitful achievements made by the School in the construction of faculty team, optimization of education and teaching, operation of scientific research and innovation, promotion of international cooperation, deepening the characteristics and competitiveness of the School, serving the country's major strategies and practicing social responsibility. He said that the School will continue to adhere to the original mission，take on its responsibilities, and move forward to the vision of "becoming a leading business school in China".

Prof. SHEN Hanyao, representative of the retired faculty, founding Director of the Institute for Economic Development and recipient of the SUN Yefang Prize in Economic Sciences, told the story of previous scholars who founded the institution from nothing. Mr. ZHANG Jie, distinguished alumni representative, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and alumnus of Department of Management Engineering (1985 intake)， recalled his school days in ECUST and expressed his blessings to his alma mater and the School. Dr. FENG Jingbing, representative of Young Teachers and First Prize Winner of the Teaching Competition for Young Teachers in National Colleges and Universities shared her feelings and experiences in the preparation process of the competition. Ms. LI Feifan, student representative, PhD student (2022 intake), and spokesperson for the power of role models of ECUST introduced her teaching experience as a volunteer in Xundian, Yunnan Province. 

At the ceremony, teachers and students of the School performed the poem recitation "Looking Back, Starting a New Journey", the Chinese ancient style dance combined with the on-site painting "Blue and White Porcelain", and the chorus of the original song for the 40th anniversary of the School named "The Wish from the School of Business", and other wonderful performances.

After the ceremony, ECUST School of Business held four sub-forums focusing on the theme of "Stick to the original Mission, Dedicated to Action and Seek for further Development", including the Launching Ceremony of the Cross-disciplinary Research Centre and Seminar, Entrepreneurs' Forum, Career Mentors and Entrepreneurship Mentors Appointment Conference and Career Development Forum, and Forum on “Reminiscence of the Past Momentous Years”.
