The Delegation of School of Economics, Singapore Management University Visits School

On April 24th, 2024, Associate Prof. XUE Jingyi from the School of Economics of Singapore Management University (SMU) visited and exchanged ideas with the School. Prof. LI Jia, Lee Kongqian Chair Professor of Economics and Director of the Master of Financial Economics Program of the School of Economics, Singapore Management University, participated in the exchange discussion through an online meeting. The meeting was held in Room 706 of the Business School Building, with the participation of Associate Prof. YE Sheng, Executive Director of International Exchange Programmes, Ms. PAN Xuejing, Deputy Director of the International Office, and Ms. XU Tian, Admissions Supervisor of the EDP Center. 


Prof. LI Jia firstly introduced the teaching characteristics and faculty strengths of the School of Economics of Singapore Management University, and expressed his eager expectation for establishing a deep cooperative relationship with the School of Business of East China University of Science and Technology. Associate Prof. YE Sheng expressed her warm welcome to the faculty of School of Economics, Singapore Management University, and looked forward to the future cooperation between the two sides.


Associate Prof. XUE Jingyi further introduced the history, global ranking and subject strengths of Singapore Management University and the School of Economics. She said that SMU is a public university established in the central business district of Singapore, with faculties and departments centered around business and management, and ranked 15th among professional universities in the 2024 QS Global University Rankings. The School of Economics at SMU is Asia's leading econometrics research institute and one of the top 100 economics schools in the world, with top-notch faculty from the world's leading universities.


Subsequently, the two sides had a fruitful discussion on potential areas of cooperation such as DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) program, undergraduate and master's degree programs, and dual-degree master's degree programs.

The visit not only deepened the mutual understanding between the two schools, but also laid a solid foundation for the next cooperation between the two sides. Both sides are looking forward to promoting resource sharing, faculty and student exchanges and scientific research cooperation through the cooperative programs, and jointly promoting the sustainable development of the educational undertakings of the two sides.
