The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China provided clear guidance on "promoting high-level opening up to the outside world" and "building an open world economy." The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee reiterated the need to steadily expand institutional openness, deepen reforms in foreign trade, foreign investment, and overseas investment management systems, optimize regional openness, and improve mechanisms for high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Amidst the accelerating and deeply interactive dynamics of the "two major situations," it is crucial to explore how to leverage the multiplier effect of data elements to empower high-quality development of foreign trade, steadily create new engines, momentum, and advantages for foreign trade, and coordinate the dominant role of the domestic cycle with the mutually reinforcing role of the dual domestic and international cycles. These theoretical and practical issues are worthy of in-depth study.

As the world's first national-level exhibition themed on imports, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has been successfully held in Shanghai for six editions since 2018. It has become a window for China's new development pattern, a platform for high-level opening up, and a global public good shared by all, sending a strong message to the world that China is committed to continuously advancing high-level openness and sharing development opportunities with other countries.

To welcome the 7th China International Import Expo and serve national development strategies, the 7th International Import Trade Forum is scheduled to take place on November 3, 2024 (Sunday) at East China University of Science and Technology. The theme of this year's forum is "High-Level Opening Up and the Construction of a New Development Pattern." We are now sincerely inviting submissions of papers from experts and scholars both domestically and internationally. Representatives from international organizations, governments, research institutions, and the business community will gather to jointly explore the new opportunities and challenges faced by China's economy and trade in the context of a new development stage, new development philosophy, and a new development pattern.
